SSC CPO 2026: 1,871 Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police and CAPF, last date 30 September

Applications for SSC’s Sub-Inspector examination in Delhi Police and the Central Armed Police Forces close on 30 September 2026. The Commission has advertised 1,871 posts across Delhi Police’s Executive cadre and General Duty Sub-Inspector posts in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP and SSB. Check the force-wise and gender-wise vacancy table before setting preferences; those numbers change each year.

Eligibility in short

On education, a bachelor’s degree in any subject is enough. For Delhi Police, male candidates must hold a valid driving licence for light motor vehicles on the date of the physical test; those without one can still apply for the CAPF posts. The age band is 20 to 25 years as on 1 August 2026, with the standard relaxation for reserved categories and for departmental or ex-servicemen candidates listed in the notice.

The fee is Rs 100, waived for women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen. Online payment closes on 1 October, one day after the form.

What the process looks like

Paper I is a two-hour objective test across reasoning, general awareness, quantitative aptitude and English. Candidates shortlisted from Paper I go through physical standard and physical endurance tests, which include a run, long jump, high jump and shot put with separate standards for men and women. Paper II is a single English comprehension paper. A detailed medical examination follows, and only medically fit candidates are ranked for the final list. Paper I dates have not been announced yet; the Commission said it will notify them separately.

Physical standards

Height, chest and vision requirements are strict and differ by category and by hill or tribal area domicile. Candidates who have had laser eye surgery, or who carry a knock-knee or flat-foot condition, are ruled out at the medical stage under the rules the forces follow. The notice lists each standard. Check your own measurements before paying the fee.

Practical notes

The correction window runs from 8 to 10 October 2026 and is chargeable. Post-preference order cannot be changed after the final submission, and the forces are allotted in that order at the end. The official notice is linked below and remains the reference for every eligibility question.
