UP Police Constable 2026: 32,679 posts, written exam held in June, physical tests underway

UP Police’s 32,679-post constable recruitment has reached the physical-test stage. The notification was issued on 31 December 2025, applications closed on 30 January 2026, and the written exam was held on 8, 9 and 10 June 2026. The board released the document-verification and physical-test schedule in September, and qualified candidates are being called batch by batch.

The recruitment

After the 2023 cycle, this is the state’s largest constable intake, covering Civil Police constables and equivalent posts for men and women. Posts are in Pay Level 3 with a scale of Rs 21,700 to 69,100 plus allowances. Recruits go through training at police training schools before posting to districts.

Eligibility that applied

The qualification was Intermediate, that is a 12th pass, from a recognised board. The age band and the fee for this cycle are not confirmed in the sources we could verify; the board’s own notice is the authority, and it adjusted the age relaxation during the application period after a demand from candidates. Stages so far and ahead

The written exam was an objective paper of 150 questions across general knowledge, general Hindi, numerical and mental ability, and reasoning, with negative marking. The board’s result shortlisted candidates for document verification and the physical standard test, where height, chest and weight are measured against the standards for each category. The physical efficiency test follows: a 4.8 km run in 25 minutes for men and a 2.4 km run in 14 minutes for women. It is qualifying only. The final merit list is drawn from the written marks of candidates who clear every stage, followed by a medical examination.

The physical test admit card is downloaded from the candidate login on uppbpb.gov.in and carries the venue and date. Candidates must bring the originals of every document uploaded in the form, including the domicile certificate and the category certificate in the UP format, and the board has rejected candidates for certificates issued after the application closing date. Medical fitness is checked after the run, and candidates with recent injuries should note that no second chance is given for the physical test.
