Gujarat Anganwadi Recruitment 2026: 6,843 Worker and Helper posts, apply on e-HRMS by 14 October

Gujarat’s Women and Child Development Department has announced 6,843 Anganwadi vacancies: 3,043 Workers and 3,800 Helpers across the state’s districts. Applications opened on 21 September 2026 through the state e-HRMS portal and close at midnight on 14 October. Selection is centre-wise on merit, with no written exam.

The posts

Under the Integrated Child Development Services scheme, an Anganwadi Worker runs a centre, handling pre-school activities, supplementary nutrition records, growth monitoring and coordination with the health worker. The Helper assists with cooking, cleaning and bringing children to the centre. Both are honorarium-based engagements rather than regular posts: Rs 10,000 a month for Workers and Rs 5,500 for Helpers in Gujarat, with central and state components. Vacancies are listed centre-wise, so applicants choose the specific village or ward centre.

Who can apply

Only women are eligible, as in every state’s Anganwadi scheme. Workers need a 12th pass, or a 10th pass together with a two-year diploma recognised by AICTE. Helpers need a 10th pass. The age band is 18 to 33 years; a serving Helper applying to become a Worker can be up to 43. Applicants are expected to be residents of the village or urban ward where the centre is, and district notifications ask for residence proof.

Selection

Each centre’s vacancy is filled from a merit list built on educational qualification and marks, with the priority rules the department sets for higher qualifications and for local residence.
