MP Police Constable 2026: 7,500 posts for 10+2 pass, apply on MPESB by 6 October
OpenMP Police Constable 2026 applications opened on 22 September and close on 6 October 2026. MPESB issued the rulebook on 9 September, and the written exam is expected to begin on 19 November. The 7,500-post drive is Madhya Pradesh’s biggest state police intake since the 2023 cycle.
The posts
The 7,500-post vacancy includes 700 Special Armed Force posts open only to men. The remaining 6,800 are General Duty posts in district police and other cadres, open to men and women. Posts are state cadre, so recruits can be posted to any district. The pay is Rs 19,500 to 62,000 in Level 4 of the state matrix, plus allowances.
Who can apply
The minimum qualification is Higher Secondary, that is 10+2, for unreserved, SC and OBC candidates. Scheduled Tribe candidates who are residents of Madhya Pradesh can apply with an 8th pass certificate. The age band is 18 to 33 years for unreserved men and for candidates from outside the state, and 18 to 38 years for women of every category and for SC, ST and OBC candidates of MP, all counted on 6 October 2026.
Physical standards are checked before the physical test: men need a height of 168 cm, or 160 cm for ST candidates, with a chest of 81 cm expanding by at least 5 cm; women need 155 cm with no chest requirement.
Fees
The fee is Rs 500 for unreserved candidates and Rs 250 for SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates who are MP residents. The MP Online portal adds a service charge of Rs 60 at a kiosk or Rs 20 for registered users. Corrections are allowed until 11 October at a further charge.
Selection stages
The written test is a two-hour computer-based paper of 100 marks covering general knowledge and reasoning, intellectual ability and mental aptitude, science and simple arithmetic. Candidates shortlisted from it take a physical proficiency test also worth 100 marks, which includes an 800 metre run, long jump and shot put. The final merit combines both scores. Document verification and a medical exam complete the process. The board holds the written test in multiple shifts and applies normalisation.
Note on the form
MPESB forms run through the candidate’s Samagra ID and e-KYC profile, and the photo must match the profile. Read the rulebook linked below before paying; the board rarely refunds fees for ineligible applications.
