MPESB Subedar Steno and ASI Ministerial 2026: 655 posts for 12th pass with CPCT, apply by 8 October

Alongside its constable drive, MPESB has opened recruitment for 655 ministerial vacancies: 135 Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer posts and 520 Assistant Sub-Inspector (Ministerial) posts. Applications run from 24 September to 8 October 2026, and the written exam begins on 3 November.

What the posts do

Both are office-based police posts rather than field roles. ASI Ministerial handles records, correspondence and computer work at police stations and district offices. The Subedar Stenographer post supports senior officers with dictation and typing and therefore needs shorthand. Both carry police ranks and uniform, and both are subject to physical standard checks, though not to the endurance test used for constables.

Eligibility

The educational requirement is Higher Secondary, 10+2, together with a valid CPCT scorecard from the Madhya Pradesh Agency for Promotion of Information Technology showing Hindi typing and computer proficiency. For the Subedar Stenographer post, Hindi shorthand at 100 words per minute is required in addition. Candidates without a CPCT certificate at the time of applying are not eligible for these posts under the current rules; the board does not accept a promise to obtain it later.

The unreserved age band is 18 to 33 years on 8 October 2026. Women and candidates of SC, ST, OBC and EWS who are MP residents get the state’s relaxation, which takes the upper limit to 38 in most cases. The fee is Rs 500 for unreserved and Rs 250 for reserved MP residents, plus the MP Online portal charge. The correction window stays open until 13 October.

Selection process

The written exam is the first filter, followed by a practical skill test on typing, and shorthand for the stenographer post. Marks from the written and practical stages decide the merit list. Document verification, physical standard verification and a medical examination come last. The board has not published a salary figure in the summary material available, so applicants should read the pay section of the rulebook on esb.mp.gov.in before applying.

Practical points

The application uses the Samagra e-KYC profile, so make sure your name, date of birth and photo there match your certificates. The CPCT scorecard must be within its validity period on the last date of application. As with all MPESB exams, the written test runs in shifts and scores are normalised.
