Telangana Police Constable 2026: 7,139 posts, applications closed on 16 September

The Telangana Police Recruitment Board advertised 7,139 constable-level vacancies on 29 July 2026. The application window opened on 19 August and closed, after an extension, at 17:00 on 16 September. With the preliminary written test date still awaited, the recruitment now sits between the application and exam stages.

Posts

Most of the vacancy, 7,112 posts, is for Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Police Constables across civil police, Armed Reserve, the Telangana State Special Police battalions, the Special Protection Force and a few other units. A separate notification of the same date covers 27 Constable Driver and Mechanic posts in the transport wing. Eligibility that applied

For constable posts the qualification is Intermediate or an equivalent 12th standard pass. For driver and mechanic posts it is SSC plus an ITI certificate in the relevant trade and a driving licence. The age band is 18 to 22 years as on 1 July 2026 for general candidates, with seven years of relaxation for SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates and more for ex-servicemen and NCC instructors. The fee structure reported for this cycle is Rs 600 for the application and Rs 1,200 as an examination fee, with rebates for candidates applying to more than one post category. The pay scale is Rs 24,280 to 72,850 plus allowances.

How selection works

The preliminary written test is a screening paper in Telugu, English and Urdu media. Those who clear it go to physical measurement and physical efficiency tests, which for men include a 100 metre run, 800 metre run, long jump, high jump and shot put, with lighter standards for women. The final written examination follows for those who pass the physical stage, and the merit list is drawn from it. Document verification, including local status and category certificates, is done before appointment.

For applicants

The board communicates through the candidate login on tgprb.in and by SMS to the registered mobile number. The preliminary test date, hall ticket release and physical test schedule will all appear there. Keep the fee receipt and the application ID, because the same ID runs through every stage. Candidates who applied for both the constable and driver posts should check that both applications show as paid.
