OpenUttar Pradesh recruits Anganwadi staff district by district, not through one state notification. District Programme Officers have advertised Worker, Mini Worker and Helper vacancies in batches since November 2025, taking the running total to about 61,600 contractual posts. How the recruitment works
In each district, the Integrated Child Development Services department publishes a notice with the list of Anganwadi centres that have a vacancy, the post at each centre and the closing date. Applications go through the state’s online Anganwadi recruitment portal, where the applicant picks the district, then one centre, and submits marks and residence details. Recent windows give a sense of the pace: Amethi closed on 21 September 2026, Gautam Buddh Nagar on 28 September, Gorakhpur on 5 October and Shahjahanpur on 8 October. Other districts will follow through the autumn.
Who can apply
Only women can apply, and residence in the gram panchayat or urban ward of the centre is required. Most district notices set a 12th pass for Worker and Mini Worker posts and a 10th pass for Helper, with the age band 18 to 35 years counted on the date given in the notice. Widows, divorced women and women from families below the poverty line get priority marks under the state’s rules, and some notices reserve posts within the centre’s population group. There is no application fee.
Selection
There is no exam. The district office prepares a merit list for each centre from the marks in the qualifying examination, adds the priority weightage, and publishes a provisional list on the portal for objections. Document verification follows, and the appointment is on an honorarium fixed by the state for each post, with the amount stated in the district notice.
