How UPSC selects for these posts
These are direct recruitments by selection, not through a scheduled examination. The Commission first shortlists on the basis of what candidates claim in the online form, applying the essential qualifications strictly and using desirable qualifications or higher experience to cut the list to a manageable size. Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview, and for the prosecutor post the Commission may hold a recruitment test first if the number of applicants is large. Marks in the interview or test plus interview decide the final recommendation.
