BPSC TRE 4.0 2026: 32,388 Bihar school teacher posts, apply online from 25 September to 26 October
OpenBPSC Teacher Recruitment Examination 4.0 has 32,388 vacancies across all four school levels. The Bihar Public Service Commission reopened the drive under Advertisement 15/2026, with applications from 25 September to 26 October 2026. Its 22 September re-announcement cancelled the earlier notice, so the old dates and exam schedule no longer apply.
Posts by level
Half the drive, 16,101 posts, is for Higher Secondary teachers in Classes 11 and 12, spread across the usual subjects and a few vocational streams. Middle school, Classes 6 to 8, has 8,563 posts. Secondary, Classes 9 and 10, has 3,877, and Primary, Classes 1 to 5, has 3,847. Subject-wise and district-wise numbers, and the reservation split, are in the advertisement on bpsc.bihar.gov.in.
Eligibility
Each level has its own line. Primary needs a 12th pass with 50 percent marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, plus a TET. Middle and Secondary need a graduate degree with B.Ed and the relevant TET or STET paper. Higher Secondary needs a master’s degree in the subject with 50 percent marks, B.Ed and STET. The Commission has said the eligibility test certificate must be in hand on the closing date; candidates whose BSEB STET 2026 result is pending should read the advertisement clause on this before paying.
Age is counted on 1 August 2026: 18 to 37 years for Primary and Middle, 21 to 37 for Secondary and Higher Secondary. The upper limit is 40 for OBC, EBC and unreserved women, and 42 for SC and ST candidates. Bihar domicile is required for reservation and for the women’s quota.
Fee
The fee is Rs 100 for every category, paid online by 25 October. A further Rs 200 is charged for biometric verification when the candidate does not provide an Aadhaar number.
Selection
Selection is by a single written examination of 150 questions in 150 marks over two and a half hours. The language section is qualifying and the general studies and subject sections form the merit list. Negative marking applies. After the exam, candidates go through document verification, and district allotment happens through counselling in order of merit and preference. Marks and cut-offs from the earlier three phases are on the Commission’s site and give a fair guide to the competition.

Posts are in the Bihar School Teacher cadre with a starting basic pay of about Rs 32,000 at the primary level plus state allowances. Candidates may apply for more than one level if eligible, with a separate form and fee for each. The revised exam dates will appear on bpsc.bihar.gov.in; the earlier September schedule is no longer valid.
