RRB NTPC Graduate 2026 (CEN 06/2026): 3,477 posts, apply online from 8 October

The Railway Recruitment Boards issued the short notice for graduate-level Non-Technical Popular Categories, CEN 06/2026, on 21 September 2026. It lists 3,477 tentative vacancies. The detailed notification is due on 7 October, followed by applications from 8 October to 6 November 2026. Undergraduate CEN 07/2026 came a day later and has a separate page.

Posts and numbers

Most of this vacancy is for Goods Train Manager, with 2,750 posts. It is a Level 5 field job, formerly called Guard, with irregular hours and a running allowance. Senior Clerk cum Typist has 371 posts and Junior Account Assistant cum Typist 300, both at Level 5 with a typing test. Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor has 56 posts at Level 6. Zone-wise splits will come with the detailed CEN, and candidates apply to one RRB only.

Eligibility

A bachelor’s degree in any discipline is the base requirement. The two typist posts need typing proficiency in English at 30 words a minute or Hindi at 25, tested on a computer after CBT 2. The short notice puts the age band at 18 to 33 years as on 1 January 2027; some coaching sites quote a higher upper limit, so treat the detailed CEN as final on this point.

The fee is Rs 500 for the general pool, of which Rs 400 comes back after you sit CBT 1. SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, women and transgender candidates pay Rs 250 and get the whole amount back on appearing. Refunds go to the bank account given in the form, so enter it carefully.

Selection stages

CBT 1 is a common screening test of 100 questions across mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning, and general awareness. CBT 2 is post-specific and longer. Typist posts then take a typing skill test; the Goods Train Manager and Ticket Supervisor posts need only document verification and a medical, though the medical standard for Goods Train Manager is A-2 vision, which is strict. Keep that in mind before listing it first.

Have a scanned photograph and signature ready in the sizes RRB specifies, a working mobile number and email, and your degree marksheet. Applicants from the last NTPC cycle can reuse their rrbapply.gov.in login. The vacancy figure is tentative and RRBs have revised numbers upward in past cycles once zones confirmed their requirements.
